Canada's Crime Rate Continues to Fall so Why do we Need More Prisons?

With Stephen Harper once again pandering to some Neanderthal base, by spending billions of dollars of our money on super prisons and an "invasive", Draconian law and order agenda, Canada's crime rate continues to fall.

Numbers, they say, don't lie. And the numbers say that once again, overall, Canada last year became a safer place in which to live. Statistics Canada is reporting that the national crime rate -based on the number of crimes reported to police -dropped three per cent last year compared with 2008, and has declined 17 per cent since 1999.

In the meantime, the Crime Severity Index (CSI), a measure of the seriousness of all crimes reported to police last year, dipped by four per cent nationwide, compared with 2008, and has sunk 22 per cent since 1999.

It's no wonder he wants to get rid of Stats Canada. Can't let silly little things like facts, get in his way.
