Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament Now Almost 150,000

The Facebook group Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament now has 148,929 members and still growing. This is sending a clear message to Stephen Harper and his Reformers that we are not going to take this lying down. He gambled on our continued apathy and lost, because he has awakened the Canadian fighting spirit.

The Liberal Party of Canada has launched a series of radio and print ads, and I'm hoping that the other opposition parties will do the same. So long as they don't start attacking each other (are you listening Jack?)

Anyone following Canadian politics knows that Stephen Harper was trying to put everything in place for a spring election, hoping to capitalize on the Olympics and deflect attention from the Liberal thinkers conference. But now that his popularity is at 33%, I think he'll have a change of plans.

He'll no doubt criticize the Liberals for these messages, but he would have done the same or worse.

The video was added for Youtube, but they are radio spots. I like them but not loving the voice.

On December 30th, Stephen Harper shut down Parliament — out of self-interest.

While Canada was on the hot seat in Copenhagen because of Conservative failure on the environment, while Harper and his Conservatives were under attack for their cover-up in the Afghan torture scandal and while more than 1.6 million of Canadians are out of work and the deficit hit a new record, Stephen Harper thought he would sneak a fast one by you. He thought he could shut down Parliament while you weren’t paying attention.
